In July 2006 the Federal Government is proposing funding changes for single parents and disability payments. Action Network is an organization set up to help us voice our opinion. Check out www.acoss.org.au. The more people they have supporting them, the louder they can be heard. From this website, type in your postcode, select 'letter to local member of parliament' and register your name and address to make it count.

Raising funds for Breast Cancer
Debi from Mtoto Designs (Keepsakes for Families) is organizing a fundraiser for the NBCF (National Breast Cancer Foundation). |
"I will be casting the torso (bust/boobs) of well known people. These castings will then be painted or dressed by other well known artists, or by the person themselves. Then, we will auction them off next year to raise funds for the organization."

GetUp Australia and use your voice!
GetUp (along with the Action Network - see above) is a new way to hold the Government accountable and with them now holding a Senate majority, this is more important than ever. GetUp is a very easy and quick way to make your views known. The web link below allows you to enter your state and then a list of all Coalition Senators will pop up.
Any time you want to make a point (about domestic violence, the Family court, child support, welfare-to-poverty, how hard it is to live on very little money, children's rights etc), all you need to do, is click on the site.
